He records songs primarily in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada and Telugu language. Known as the "Golden Voice of India", A notable playback singer of India, he is also noted for his songs in the romantic genre, mainly during the 2000s. Shaan is a recipient of two Filmfare Awards and three International Indian Film Academy Awards.
